In January we made the decision to enter the Buckinghamshire Business Awards which are designed to recognise the most ambitious and forward thinking companies in the county.   We felt it was important to raise awareness of how our business has evolved over the last few years, in recognition of the fact that whilst we have been operating in the local area for over forty years.

We entered two categories; High Performance, Technology and Motorsport for our innovative Cool-Phase natural cooling solution and Best in Wycombe district.  We were delighted to find out that we had been short-listed as finalists in both categories and enjoyed meeting judges for both categories and showing them our offices as well as filming employees and recording interviews with our Managing Director, Andrew McCubbin and R&D Director, Nick Hopper.

On June 16th we donned our glad rags and headed to Wycombe Town Hall for the black-tie awards ceremony.  It was great to see such a wide variety of Buckinghamshire businesses turned out to celebrate success; - from a company selling pork scratching, The Snaffling Pig Company, through to high tech companies working with Formula 1 such as Good Fabrications.  Monodraught were honoured to be selected as winners in the Best in Wycombe District Award.

The icing on the cake however, was being awarded Company of the Year at the end of the evening.  The judges commented on the passion of our staff when they came for the judge’s visit.  They were impressed by our innovative use of technology; from high-tech computer modelling used by the design team, the use of Phase Change Materials in our natural cooling products, right through to our virtual reality marketing programme which we use to help our clients and prospects experience our natural and hybrid lighting products.  We were commended for the fact that more than 50% of our suppliers come from within the Bucks area and our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, including sponsorship of local charity Buckinghamshire Mind.

Andrew McCubbin, Managing Director of Monodraught said:

“We are based in High Wycombe and celebrating success where the majority of our staff are based is very important to us.  We have a high percentage of engineers in our work force and innovation is part of our DNA. This isn’t just about developing and launching new products, it’s also about looking at how we work in every area of our business including marketing, installation, production and finance and ensuring we are always challenging the boundaries. Engagement with the locality is very important for us and our CSR policy includes actively sourcing from local companies and supporting the local mental health charity Buckinghamshire Mind. It is fantastic to win Buckinghamshire Company of the Year 2016 as a validation of our approach.”
